*Camping, Fishing, Hiking, Bike Riding, and just plain Relaxing are among the activities to be enjoyed during warmer months of the year in Rio Costilla. May to September is ideal for experiencing Rio Costilla in it’s splendor. Temperatures are mild, wild flowers are in bloom and wildlife is most active. Deer and Elk inhabit Rio Costilla in vast numbers. Visitors may see smaller game such as: Turkey, Ruffed Grouse or Golden Eagles. One may be fortunate enough to see Bear or Cougar and Rocky Mountain Big Horn Sheep frolicking in the sunlight.

The Nuevo Americana Music Festival is nestled in the heart of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in amalia, New Mexico. I started this festival to bring together some of New Mexico's finest musicians. New Mexico has a rich musical culture; weaving together Spanish, Mexican and ANGLO-AMERICAN styles. I have always been inspired by the music I grew up playing, whether it be Spanish, Southwest Americana or the Cosmic Cowboy scene in Red River. My festival compiles all of this and so much more, right here in my hometown.

The feel of a family reunion filled the air. Most people knew one another and yet this was a family in which one would like to belong, that also welcomed newcomers. The crowd was upbeat, enthusiastic, and filled with joy, this could be the best music festival of the summer. There is great confidence that it will continue to grow, it’s refreshing Spanish American vibe featured music in both languages. |
